This was meant to be a non-structured conversation and could serve as a formative assessment of my learner’s knowledge of alphabetics prior to completing the alphabetics and writing activities. This book is a wonderful source to use for children learning letters of the alphabet, as well as, the alphabetic principle, and beginning to write letters.īefore we began reading the book, I talked to my learner about letters in the alphabet. ![]() For the third practicum data set, which focuses on alphabetics, I chose to read the book Alphabet Trucks by Samantha R. Through two read alouds and planned activities, my learner has taught me countless elements of how young children learn and develop literacy skills. During the first two practicum data sets, I have learned quite a bit about my learner regarding his current reading skills. ![]()
